Russ Jones
The former CFO at Shopify, Jones is a seasoned financial and business leader with nearly 40 years of experience. He guided Shopify as it grew from 50 to more than 3,000 employees, helped the company go public in 2015, and worked with Infinicept to make Shopify a payment facilitator.
It was that experience, Jones said, that kicked off a nearly 10-year relationship with Infinicept’s co- founders.
“They helped me when I was at Shopify to launch the payments business, so I’m happy to return the favor,” he said.
Jones pointed to his experience with payments, customer financing and taking a company public as background that he expects to be particularly relevant to his role with Infinicept. He plans to advise in a variety of areas including financing strategies, scaling the finance team and the company overall, IPO readiness and potential lead generation.
Jones was previously CFO at Xambala Incorporated and Watchfire, and he held earlier business and finance roles at Newbridge Networks and Mitel. Jones serves on the board of directors for Sierra Wireless, Olo (digital ordering and delivery), and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
Outside of work, Jones enjoys outdoor activities and spending as much time as possible with his four grandchildren. He said that he would advise his younger self that “it’s never as good – or as bad – as it first appears.”
